Polly Ryon Middle School

Polly Ryon Middle School is a Lamar Consolidated Independent School District campus serving sixth-grade students in Richmond, Texas. Home of the Longhorns, the school introduces students to a secondary-school environment through core academics, advanced coursework, fine arts, physical education, electives, clubs and student activities. The school opened in August 2013 and is named for Mary "Polly" Moore Jones Ryon, a member of the historic George Ranch family. Polly Ryon was a nurse, rancher and one of the region’s largest landholders. Her legacy of community service remains an important part of the school’s identity. The campus is led by Principal Dr. Stacie Johnson. As a single-grade (6th) center, Polly Ryon does not receive its own TEA accountability rating or GreatSchools score — its students’ results are reported under Reading Junior High, the 7th–8th grade campus it feeds into.
